It is a pleasure to inform you that the Virginia Commission for the Arts has awarded Sanctuary on the Trail, Inc a matching grant of $1950 in the Artists in Education program.

The Commission is grateful for your dedication to providing the schools and the community with arts in education activities designed to enhance the scope and sequence of a school’s basic arts instruction and to provide arts education resources for teachers and parents.

Artists Study Monacan Indian Village

Cultural Rescue
     A Sanctuary on the Trail team of artists visited the Monacan Indian Village exhibit at Natural Bridge to meet with Victoria "Last Walker" Ferguson and her team of historical interpreters this week.
     Information gained helps artists teach children to build an Indian Village here in Bluemont, Va. The Bluemont Indian Village opens to the public Sept. 17-18, 2016 during the Bluemont Fair.


National Historic Place

     The National Register of Historic Places added Natural Bridge Historic District to its list in Feb. 2016.
     Victoria, of the Monacan Indian tribe, has been involved with the Monacan Indian Exhibit at Natural Bridge for 16 years. MORE
